Plainly, they are boring. It’s all anyone ever talks about anymore. AI this and AI that. It’s all the same discussion. People read something online, twist it into their own flavor of opinion, and regurgitate it to the masses or for their boss. It’s tiring.
I do it too. I talk about LLMs a LOT. It is a part of my job to know about them and to have an opinion on them. It is a part of every software engineer’s job today. It’s okay to have an opinion, and it’s okay to share it with others. I have no gripe with that.
But for your own personal sanity, I implore you to write about something other than LLMs. People, including myself, have plainly become tired of the discourse around them. My recent complaint about it, and the resulting discourse on Hacker News, is evidence of that. Large language models been discussed to death. Just because everyone else is writing about them, does not mean you need to write about them too. Show your originality and write about anything else.
Please.
Is this post hypocritical? It sure is.

Yes! Agreed.
Back in my day, we used math for autocomplete.
I have been seeing an increasingly prevalent trend of people showing up in online spaces flaunting that they are writing with the assistance of AI. They seem to be proud of this. They shouldn't be.
It didn't work for me, and if you reading this, it probably won't work for you either.
